Mogensen is renowned for his simple, functional designs. He is the creator of some beautiful pieces of remarkable elegance: the 2254 armchair (1960s), the 2207 lounge chair (1960s), the 2254 Sleighchair (1950s)... Biography Borge Mogensen was born in Denmark in 1914. He began his career as a cabinetmaker, then studied furniture design at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts until 1938. He then entered the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He worked for various studios and became head of the FDB design studio. In 1959, he left his post and set up his own studio. He designed various ranges of furniture for Soborg Mobelfabrik, Frederica Stolefabrik and Karl Andersson & Soner. His work quickly met with great success and was exhibited in Zurich, New York, Paris, London and elsewhere. He received numerous awards, including the Eckersberf Medals in 1950. Mogensen is one of his country's leading designers.
