Vintage teak sideboard by Gaston Poisson, France 1960

Sideboard - Gaston Poisson - Années 60 This magnificent mid-century sideboard was designed by Gaston Poisson in France in the 1960s. A classic mid-century design, sculptural with superb lines, the solid handles are beautifully styled and very elegant. This functional piece features a large double closet, with built-in shelving and 2 drawers on the right-hand side, and a shelved cupboard on the other. The right-hand side opens onto a cupboard with a hinged door fitted with a key bearing the "GP" logo, and a wooden module with 2 compartments for smaller items/dishes. The NF ameublement label inside the cupboard (see photos): the NF oval takes up the symbolism of the seal, a guarantee of quality, safety and reliability for the consumer: "what's said is proven". All certified furniture can be identified by a stamp (located on a door inside a piece of furniture, under the seat of a chair, under the top of a table, etc.). Gaston Poisson is a cabinetmaker renowned for the solidity of his creations, and one of the most successful French designers of the 60s. This model is particularly rare.
