Bent KARLBY and LYFA Pair of "Kvadrille" sconces, circa 1970, with bakelite structure forming a square basin holding a composition of blue, white, red and black lacquered metal plates forming a deflector. Bent Karlby created many iconic lamps in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. The Kvadrille is one of his most successful pieces, but also one of his rarest. 25 x 25 cm

Bent Karlby (1912-1998) was a Danish designer renowned for his contributions to the lighting industry. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, where he developed his minimalist, functional style.
