About this vintage design furniture

The California Sofa, designed by Parisian designer Jacques Charpentier, is an ingenious model made up of two corner modules and three individual modules. The sofa was offered for sale in 1970 by Galerie Flat in Paris and Brussels, marking its entry into the market. Its fame grew thanks to its publication in several leading French design magazines of the time, including an appearance in the April 1971 issue of La Maison Française. The modular design of this sofa is based on practical considerations. Charpentier deliberately opted for this approach to avoid the com- plications associated with the dimensions of a four-seat monoblock sofa. Such a piece of furniture would have been excessively bulky and heavy, making it difficult to pass through staircases or corridors. This sofa recently benefited from a complete restoration, with a new gray velvet upholstery, offering a new aesthetic. Each base is carefully finished in stainless steel. In very good condition, completely reupholstered in our workshop Reference : 304127
