About this vintage design furniture
Auxiliary furniture or small German sideboard designed by Franz Ehrlich for VEB Deutsche Werkstätten Hellerau in the 1950s. Vintage piece made of teak and elm veneer with conical legs in stained oak. The design, with a marked rationalist style, has two facing doors behind which is hidden an open-plan storage space with a height-adjustable shelf. Under the top board there is a sliding tray made of elm veneer and solid wood edges.
The quality and functionality of the piece take us back to the golden age of the Bauhaus in Dessau, the school where its designer studied between 1927 and 1930.
It is in a very good state of conservation after having been restored and finished with two coats of colorless satin oil-wax, respecting the natural shine and tone of its wood.
