About this vintage design furniture

A pair of wicker lounge chairs designed by Gregorio Vicente Cortes and Luis Onsurbe wicker chairs for Metz and Co, The Netherlands 1961. These light modernist chairs are a remarkable find. These chairs have become scarce since they were, as we believe, mainly designed for outdoor use and many have not survived time. Despite the entirely worn out condition of the original wicker of this pair of chairs, our restoration team successfully replaced the seats of the chairs with new wicker. The restoration process was carried out with attention to detail, ensuring that the chairs regained their original charm. Additionally, a new patina was meticulously added, layer by layer, to enhance the overall appearance and authentic look of these early Dutch modernist chairs. The furniture sold by Metz and Co, including these chairs, is renowned for its avant-garde modernist collection and represents some of the best Dutch mid-century modern design. It is worth noting that the Metz and Co collection featured designers like Gerrit Thomas Rietveld further adding to its prestige. Reference : 286022
