About this vintage design furniture
Pair of Sciolari sconces with gilt brass frames and 64 dangling crystals in neoclassical style, 1970s, Italy. These vintage sconces have been gently cleaned while respecting the patina of age. They are newly rewired and grounded, electrician tested and ready to be installed. They have 4 new lamp holders. Four new gold lined grey silk shades and bulbs are included in this price. It is possible to use these sconces in other countries, but it may be necessary to purchase different bulbs for the local electricity. These lamps can be used with a dimmer. This elegant pair of vintage sconces by Gaetano Sciolari is a reinterpretation of the traditional neoclassical sconce. Key design elements such as scrolling leaves, fluted columns and dangling crystals are kept simple for a clean, modern look. Italian craftsmanship and attention to detail are highlighted by the use of polished and satin gold finishes. The metal frames are quality cast and have a good weight. These lamps would suit a range of interiors such as antique, traditional, Hollywood Regency or contemporary.Gaetano Sciolari's company was based in Rome, the original manufacturer's label "SCIOLARI ROMA" is still present behind a round base. The wall brackets are also stamped "SCIOLARI", as shown in the photo. In the center of each frame is a circular base made of gold and satin brass. From this base extends a single arm with a satin finish in the shape of a reed. One end of the arm leads to the lamp holder. In front of the lamp holder are decorative leaves on either side, followed by a fluted column topped by a fluted bezel also fluted. The "upper" end of the arm is attached to the base, this end has a pair of decorative leaves and a neoclassical amphora style finial. This composition features both polished and satin finishes. The contrast between the two creates different highlights and depth. On the bobeche is the new lamp holder inside the acrylic candle cover in an ivory tone with a satin finish. This is the original vintage of the lamps. These covers are removable for cleaning and transport.Additional Dimensions:Total dimensions with shades are: Height: 36 cm, Width: 13 cm, Depth: 19 cm.The frame alone without the shades is: Height: 26 cm, Width: 13 cm, Depth: 13 cm. The round base that attaches to the wall has a diameter of 10.5 cm.The lampshade alone is: Height: 9.5 cm, Bottom diameter: 14 cm, Top diameter: 7cm
