About this vintage design furniture
Danish Modern Axe Armchair by Hvidt & Mølgaard 1960s Danish mid-century modern easy chair designed by Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen in 1947 and manufactured by Fritz Hansen, Denmark in 1966. Beautiful and elegant lounge chair named the "Axe Chair". Seat and backrest in curved laminated teak. Frame and legs in laminated beech with solid teak inlay as accent. Very comfortable and stylish scandinavian modern chair. The curved surface provides good support to the back and the seat feels almost soft due to the shaped surface. Makers mark under seat. Very good original condition. No delamination. Some scratches on seat and legs, please see photos.

Peter HVIDT & Orla MOLGAARD NIELSEN
Hvidt & Mølgaard Nielsen is a mid-20th-century Danish design duo consisting of Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard Nielsen. Peter Hvidt was born in Copenhagen in 1916 and studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts before working as a designer for various companies. Orla Mølgaard Nielsen was born in Copenhagen in 1907 and also studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, before working as an architect and designer.
