Hans-Agne Jakobsson

He uses for example wood, copper, brass, fabric or glass. Genius of lighting, he proposes lamps with invisible bulbs and thanks to their shapes it changes the direction and color of the light. Biography Hans-Agne Jakobsson was born in Sweden on Gotland Island in 1919. He did his carpenter apprenticeship then he decided to studied architecture in Göteborg. He worked as an industrial designer at General Motors and became the assistant of the famous Swedish designer: Carl Malmsten.

In 1950, he adds due to Christmas a model of hanging lamps in small strips of pine in one of his stores to soften the too lively lighting of the shop window. The people who were passing by were immediately seduced by this hanging lamp, nevertheless not intended for sale. Jakobsson then began to produce this model in his factories and met a lightening success abroad.

He establishes in 1951 his own company: Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB and begins his own production. In 50 years, he designed more than 2000 lamps with a unique design. We can find, among his most famous creations, the suspension Selectra, Blade or still Dome. He uses materials and multiple techniques by using on certain lamps fabrics with fringes, blown glass of color or smoked glass. This big diversity offers a range of timeless lightings. These pieces continue to seduce the design lovers. They adapt themselves and suit all kinds of interior.
