Borge Mogensen is a great Danish designer from the 20th Century. He participated to the recognition of the Danish design furniture in the world.
Mogensen is famous for the design of functional and simple pieces of furniture. He designed very beautiful and elegant pieces: the 2254 armchair (the 1960s), the 2207 lounge chair (the 1960s), the Sleighchair 2254 (the 1950s)… Biography Borge Mogensen was born in Denmark in 1914. He started his career by training as a cabinet maker, then he studied furniture design at the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen until 1938. Then, he studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Arts. He worked in several studios and became responsible for the FDB design workshop. In 1959, he quit his job and founded his own studio. He created many furniture ranges for Soborg Mobelfabrik, Frederica Stolefabrik and Karl Andersson & Soner. He quickly met with great success: his pieces were exhibited in Zurih, New-York, Paris, London… He received several rewards such as the Eckersberf Medals in 1950. Mogensen is one of the greatest Danish designers.
