Haugesen was best known for his work in industrial design, where he created numerous products for international brands such as Bang & Olufsen, Ikea and Yamaha. He was particularly renowned for his ability to integrate functionality and aesthetics harmoniously in his designs.
His most famous creations include the Beocenter 9000 hi-fi system for Bang & Olufsen, which won a design award in 1987, and the Acapulco chair for Ikea.
Haugesen was also active as a graphic designer and illustrator, producing posters for exhibitions, cultural events and advertising campaigns.
His work has been widely exhibited in museums and galleries around the world, and he has received numerous awards for his contribution to industrial design. Niels Jorgen Haugesen is considered one of the most important Danish designers of his generation.
