Passionate about design, she has earned an international reputation for her work and her involvement in the world of design. Her works, such as the "Super" lamp for Memphis (1981), the Gédéon desk lamp (1983) and the Skipper mixer taps, are original creations that have won over design enthusiasts and professionals alike.
Biography
Martine Bedin was born in France in 1957. She left her native country to move to Italy and study architecture. She quickly developed an appreciation of the radical design movement. In 1980, she met Ettore Sottsas, with whom she collaborated for a year on various productions. Together with other designers, they founded La Memphis. The movement came to an end in 1989, but its innovative vision left a deep mark on the history of design. Martine Bedin likes to pass on her knowledge, so she teaches at a number of colleges.
At first, she designed for industry, but in 1991 decided to concentrate solely on the creation of unique furniture. Two years later, she was awarded the "Ordre des Arts et des Lettres".
