In 1967, Scott was recruited by Toronto design firm Gottschalk, Ash International. He quickly rose through the ranks to become the company's Design Director. During his 33 years at Gottschalk, Ash International, Scott worked on a wide variety of design projects, from furniture and appliances to telecommunications products and mass transit systems.
Scott has won numerous awards for his work, including the Canadian Industrial Design Award twice and the Royal Society of Arts Award. He also taught industrial design at the University of Toronto for several years.
Frederick Scott died of a heart attack on January 31, 2001, at the age of 58. He left behind a great influence on the industrial design community in Canada and around the world.
