Svend SKIPPER

Born in Svendborg, Denmark, in 1919, Skipper began his design career after the Second World War. He began working for the furniture company Carl Hansen & Son in 1950, where he designed some of its most iconic pieces.

Skipper was known for his skilful use of wood, as well as for his ability to create furniture that was both functional and elegant. He was influenced by the work of designers such as Arne Jacobsen and Finn Juhl.

Over the years, Skipper created many outstanding pieces of furniture for Carl Hansen & Son, including armchairs, sofas, coffee tables and chairs. Many of his designs won prestigious awards, including the "Model 91" armchair, which won the Grand Prix at the Milan Triennale in 1957.

Skipper also worked for other Danish furniture companies, including Fritz Hansen and Thorald Madsen, where he continued to produce innovative and aesthetically pleasing designs.

Today, Svend Skipper's furniture is highly prized by collectors and design enthusiasts worldwide for its timeless elegance and exceptional quality.
