Giuseppe PAGANO

Pagano studied architecture at the University of Rome and was influenced by the Italian Futurist movement. He was a founding member of the architectural magazine "Casabella" in 1928, where he promoted rationalist architecture. He was also one of the founders of the Organic Architecture Movement in 1932.

Among his most famous works is the Casa del Fascio in Lissone, built between 1937 and 1939, which has been hailed as an example of Italian rationalist architecture. He also designed Casa del Balilla in Sabaudia and Casa del Popolo in Ivrea.

Pagano was a political opponent of Mussolini's Fascist regime and was arrested in 1943. He was deported to a concentration camp in Germany, where he died in 1945. His death was commemorated by the Movement for Organic Architecture with the publication of the book "Il Progetto di Giuseppe Pagano" in 1948.
