Ib Gjerlov-Knudsen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1945. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and worked as a freelance designer before co-founding Gjerlov-Knudsen & Lind. He is known for his work with natural materials such as wood, leather and stone, and for his minimalist, functional style.
Peter Lind was born in 1947, also in Copenhagen. He studied at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts and also worked as a freelance designer before co-founding Gjerlov-Knudsen & Lind. He is known for his work with materials such as glass, metal and leather, and for his pragmatic approach to design.
Together, Gjerlov-Knudsen & Lind have designed furniture and objects for many international companies, including Fritz Hansen, Fredericia Furniture, Georg Jensen and Le Klint. Their work has been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world, including MoMA in New York and the Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo. They have also won several awards for their work, including the Red Dot Design Award in 2011 for their FAVN chair for Fritz Hansen.
