He enjoyed numerous successes, and some of his pieces rank among the legendary furniture of the 20th century. Furniture lines such as 1001 (1959/1960), Popcorn (1968), Prisma (1968), Planet (1965) and Laminette (1966) left their mark on design. His modern vision gives his creations timeless lines and curves.
Biography
Sven Ivar Dysthe was born in Norway in 1931. He studied at London's renowned Royal College of Art. After graduating in industrial design, he returned to his homeland, where he founded his own company in 1958. In the 60s, he began a collaboration with Fora Form, for whom he designed numerous pieces of furniture. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards, giving him an international reputation. In 2010, he was made a Knight of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav. Sven Ivar Dysthe has had a profound impact on the history of design, and is one of its key figures.
