In the 1950s, ceramic artists once again came to Vallauris to create, including André Baud. He was one of the figures of the town's golden age. His pottery was exhibited not only in France, but also in the United States, Australia and Quebec.
Biography
André Baud was born in France in 1903. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Bourges, where he was awarded the Grand Prix de la Céramique. He also graduated from the Ecole des Arts Appliqués à l'Industrie in Paris. His work was soon recognized, notably at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs, where he won a medal. He moved to Vaullauris and bought a factory to start producing pottery. Production ceased in 1969 due to financial problems. He continued his career, however, and his work was exhibited at the Château du Douet.
