Piero FORNASETTI

He has multiplied the themes, media and technical means he uses to express each of his ideas in every possible way. His imaginary and eccentric world is transcribed without limit: engraving, glassware, porcelain, fabric... The series Thèmes et Variations featuring a woman's face exists in 500 different versions. Biography Piero Fornasetti was born in Italy in 1913. He began his studies at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, but was expelled at the age of 19 for indiscipline. In 1933, at the 5th Milan Triennale, he presented his first creations. The famous designer Gio Ponti was quickly won over by the young artist's work. Their collaboration produced a number of beautiful pieces, including a series of almanacs and the Architettura line of furniture (1951). His creations convey a touch of magic and madness, appealing to art and design enthusiasts as well as the general public. Zodiac signs, fish, flowers, masks... Fornasetti takes us into his extraordinary world.
