Bruce HANNAH and Andrew Ivar MORRISON

Bruce Hannah was born in 1941 in Chicago, Illinois. He studied sculpture at the University of Illinois and went on to earn a degree in industrial design from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1964. Hannah worked for several design companies before joining Knoll International in 1970, where he worked with Andrew Morrison.

Andrew Ivar Morrison was born in 1939 in Seattle, Washington. He studied architecture at the University of Washington before moving into furniture design. Morrison worked for several design companies before joining Knoll International in 1970.

Hannah and Morrison worked together at Knoll International for over a decade, creating furniture such as the 770 chair and the 747 table. Their work was recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Industrial Design Award from the American Institute of Architects in 1978.

After leaving Knoll International in 1981, Hannah and Morrison formed their own design firm, Morrison/Hannah Design Company. They continued to work together to create furniture for clients such as Knoll, KnollStudio, KnollTextiles, KnollExtra, Sellex, MBI, L'Objet, and many others. Hannah and Morrison's designs are characterized by a combination of form and function, with particular attention to detail and the use of quality materials.

Hannah and Morrison have received numerous awards and honors throughout their careers, including the American Institute of Architects Design Award in 1978 and the Illinois Institute of Technology Industrial Design Award in 1982. They were also included in the permanent collection of New York's Museum of Modern Art. Hannah passed away in 2015, while Morrison continues to work as a furniture designer.
