Maija Liisa KOMULAINEN

In the 1960s, Komulainen made a name for herself in textile design, creating abstract, colorful patterns that were very popular at the time. She worked for renowned brands such as Marimekko and Arabia, and was one of the first female designers to make her mark in this male-dominated field.

Komulainen also worked in interior design, creating public spaces such as libraries and churches in Finland. She has won several awards for her work, including the Finnish Design Prize in 1968 and 1987.

With her passion for art and culture, Komulainen has also taught design at the University of Turku and Lahti University of Applied Sciences. His contribution to Finnish design was immense, and his legacy lives on today.
