Charles POLLOCK

He studied at the Pratt Institute School of Art and Design in Brooklyn, then began his career working for George Nelson Associates in New York, where he designed products for Herman Miller, including the 657 typing chair in 1963.

In 1965, Charles Pollock set up his own design company in New York, where he worked on various projects for brands such as Castelli, Knoll, Bernhardt, and Lehigh. Most notably, he designed the Pollock Executive chair for Knoll in 1965, which quickly became a design classic.

Charles Pollock received numerous awards for his designs, including the American Institute of Architects Industrial Design Award in 1963 and the Office Chair Design Award in 1979.

He died in 2013 at the age of 83, but his work continues to be recognized as an important contribution to the history of industrial design.
