She is known for her ecological approach to design, using recyclable materials and designing sustainable products. She has worked for many companies, including Volkswagen, Daimler, Siemens and Nivea.
Among her most notable projects are the design of the Hanover tramway, which won the German Design Prize in 2003, and the design of the permanent exhibition at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart.
Lisi Beckmann is also involved in social and environmental projects, working with local communities in Africa to develop sustainable handicrafts.
In 2006, she was appointed Professor of Industrial Design at the University of Wuppertal, Germany, where she continues to teach today.
