In 1979, he founded his own company, OMK Design, with the aim of creating functional, aesthetic furniture and objects at affordable prices. His designs are often characterized by simple geometric shapes and vivid colors.
Rodney Kinsman has worked with many major brands, including Alessi, B&B Italia, Sony and Yamaha. His designs have been exhibited in prestigious museums such as the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
He has won numerous awards for his designs, including the Designers Guild Award for Furniture Design in 1981, the British Council Design Award in 1985 and the Order of the British Empire (OBE) Medal in 2017 for services to design. Rodney Kinsman is today considered one of the most important British industrial designers of his generation.
