Over the years, Gismondi has designed many iconic luminaires, such as the Tolomeo table lamp and the Tizio floor lamp, which have won numerous prestigious awards, including the Compasso d'Oro in 1989 and the Red Dot Design Award in 1991.
Gismondi also worked on lighting projects for buildings such as the Guggenheim Museum in New York and St. Paul's Cathedral in London.
In addition to his work in lighting, Gismondi was a professor at the Politecnico di Milano and received numerous awards and distinctions for his contributions to industrial design. He died on October 3, 2021 at the age of 88.
