After studying at the Berlin School of Fine Arts, Klaus Hempel began his career in the 1950s working for the Hülsta furniture company. He then founded his own design studio in Munich in 1960, where he worked for a number of German companies, including BMW, Siemens and Miele.
Klaus Hempel is best known for his elegant and functional furniture and home accessories. He has also designed interiors for public buildings and private homes, as well as exhibition stands for trade fairs.
Throughout his career, Klaus Hempel has won numerous awards for his work, including the Good Design Award in 1969 and the Red Dot Design Award in 1995. Today, his creations are exhibited in museums around the world, including the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the Museum of Applied Arts in Munich.
