In 1944, Hvidt founded his own design studio with his partner Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen. Together, they created modern, functional furniture for companies such as France & Søn and Fritz Hansen.
Hvidt was influenced by modern Scandinavian design and developed a clean, functional style. He is best known for his chair designs, such as the AX chair and the Pluto chair.
The AX chair is considered one of Hvidt's most iconic creations. It was designed in 1947 and became a very popular piece of furniture in the 1950s. It is known for its simple, elegant design, with a wooden frame and leather seat.
Hvidt won numerous awards during his career, including the prestigious Lunning Prize in 1954. His creations have also been exhibited in numerous museums and galleries around the world.
During his lifetime, Christian Hvidt made a significant contribution to the development of Danish industrial design and left an important legacy in the field of designer furniture.
