After studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Erik Hansen worked as a designer for various furniture companies, including Fritz Hansen and Holmegaard Glassworks. He also founded his own company, Erik Hansen Design Studio, in 1955.
His most famous designs include the "Juicy" chair for Fritz Hansen, and the "Zephyr" and "Pharaoh" lamps for Le Klint. Erik Hansen was known for his innovative use of materials, such as Plexiglas and brass, and for his minimalist, functionalist approach to design.
Sadly, Erik Hansen died prematurely at the age of 48, leaving behind him a significant legacy in Danish design.
