His creations are characterized by the originality of the materials used. For his pieces, he uses shagreen, parchment, canvas and terracotta. The Confortable sofa and the cubic vase are now well-recognized pieces.
Biography
Jean-Michel Frank was born in Paris in 1895. He passed his baccalauréat with flying colors and went on to study law. He soon developed a passion for art and literature, followed by interior design. Pierre Drieu La Rochelle entrusted him with the design of his home. His unique style quickly won him acclaim. Subsequently, many famous names entrusted him with the design of their apartments: the Viscount Charles de Noailles (1924), the writer Nancy Cunard and the famous fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli (1927). He was subsequently appointed artistic director of Chanaux & Cie. He left France for Argentina and then New York, where he died. Jean-Michel Frank's innovative style had a profound impact on design.
