Vintage brass and aluminum nutcracker by David Marshall

Magnificent brutalist style nutcracker, following the designs of David Marshall. Made of brass and aluminum, gold and silver, it becomes a practical design object when cracking nuts, thanks to its heavy hammer. The rough surface finish, typical of the style to which it belongs, invites touch. For the sculptor, his works must be effective and functional, in addition to satisfying a basic sensual and sculptural concept: the need to feel, touch, caress. Attracted by natural phenomena, many of his designs are inspired precisely by geological formations, ice patterns, fossils and degradation, the random shapes of nature where there are no straight lines; using the foundry process to try to replicate these phenomena.
