About this vintage design furniture
Vintage bentwood coat rack and bistro hat by Jacob and Josef Kohn.
The piece is made from beech wood, with a rich, dark walnut-colored finish.
There are three "S"-shaped hooks and three lower hooks, terminating in a "T"-shape, for easily hanging hats or umbrellas.
The first coat rack model, from 1911, can be found in the J et J Kohn catalog, page 87.
This is model 1205/3, with 3 hooks.
The shape and design of the piece, as well as the screw fastenings for the hooks on the back, are typical of this manufacturer.
The piece is in overall very good, original and vintage condition, with some light marks, signs of age and previous use commensurate with the time, as well as an age and wax patina, on the overall structure.
(See photos.) Some old signs of woodworm are present, as would be expected for a piece of this age, but the piece has been fully treated (see photos.) The six hooks are solid and stable.
All photos are taken in natural light, so colors may vary according to the light, angles and perspective in which they are viewed.
