Vintage porcelain candlestick from Lilienthal, Germany 1980

This charming, older work is reminiscent of a bygone Europe, where the church was a theater and village boys played elaborately costumed actors in a grand spectacle. The figurine is designed to hold a small candle, although I have seen it used to hold a single flower (there is a hole in the bottom, so they are not vases and do not hold water). What I love about them, and what I think sets them apart from regular action figures of this type, is that they are not exact copies of each other. Each figurine is painted by hand. I don't have the box. I'll just use his photo for context. The item was made by the German company Lilienthal Company, which was established in 1959.
