About this vintage design furniture

Exceptional oil on canvas by Valladolid artist Andrés Mende, active in the last decade of the 20th century and at the beginning of the present century. The support is highly original, since paper is a characteristic of the artist. This abstract work surprises the viewer with its contrasting colors and meticulous study of lines. Its lines can be integrated into any contemporary space, as a continuation of the style, or into a more classical environment, as an innovative work. Dated on the back by the artist in 2019, it also bears the title of the work, "Azul I". The expression of the work is facilitated by the color palette, as the author always uses black, brown and ochre colors, which usually contrast with another color, such as blue here. This adds depth and dynamism to the result. His style is attributed to abstract informalism, which can be considered a branch of European abstract expressionism. Informalism emerged in Europe after the Second World War and is characterized by the inclusion of different materials in the works. Chance and improvisation are used to create material works whose ideological basis is linked to existentialism and individual subjectivity. It differs from American abstract expressionism in that it is more poetic, static and discreet than the latter. This painting is eminently mental, with nothing arising randomly or by chance. Compositions are premeditated, every stroke thought through. Playing with color, geometry, straight lines and stains. The result is a vibrant, unreal and lyrical painting. His style is largely reminiscent of that of Fernando Zóbel, a Filipino-born artist of international renown. For him, the discovery of the painting of Rothko, Pollock, Kooning... meant a flight from figuration, joining informalism and abstract expressionism. Gradually, however, Zóbel moved away from expressionist dramaturgy, basing his painting on the nakedness of line and the movement suggested by the strokes that cross the paper. About abstract art Abstract art is a style of artistic expression characterized by the representation of concepts abstracted from reality, or independent of what is recognizable by the senses, through the freedom, irrationality and diversity of shapes, lines and colors. It is therefore a subjective art form that does not represent in an exact or figurative way the visual reality perceived by human beings. It emerged around 1900 and formed the axis of modern art, which encompassed various artistic movements such as cubism, surrealism and De Stijl. Abstract art allows different interpretations or points of view to be generated depending on the recipient, as it does not seek to achieve perfection of line or credible compositions. It is considered art that reaches another dimension of morality and spirituality, as it expresses emotions and sensations distinct from logic and objectivity.
