About this vintage design furniture

This beautiful Murano glass and brass luminaire, designed by Flavio Poli for Seguso in the 1950s, is a remarkable piece. Comprising three conical fixtures, it perfectly illustrates the Sommerso glass technique, in which different layers of material are superimposed, offering a variety of consistencies and reflections. Here, Murano glass is given a light blue hue and a central relief that magnifies the diffusion of light emitted by the bulbs. This chandelier testifies to the finesse of the work of Flavio Poli, one of the greatest Italian glass artists of the 20th century. Fully cleaned, restored and electrified, this chandelier is in superb condition, and embodies the timeless elegance of Italian craftsmanship. Flavio Poli (1900-1984) was an Italian glass artist famous for his collaboration with the historic Venetian glass manufacturer Seguso, of which he was artistic director from 1937 to 1963. His mastery of the Sommerso technique earned him worldwide recognition. Among Poli's most famous pieces are the Sommerso vases, characterized by their bold colors and organic shapes, which became symbols of Murano glass design in the mid-twentieth century.
