About this vintage design furniture
Cor de Ree was born in Maastricht in the Netherlands, but moved to Roermond at an early age. His father was a source of inspiration for son Cor, who at a young age already imagined that he would later work on immensely large paintings. The course to the art academy (in Maastricht) was obvious. Yet he did not end up painting, but was much more attracted to making etchings and graphic works.
Around 1988 a turning point came in Cor’s life. He chose art! Cor de Ree can lose himself completely in making furniture from copper, zinc and glass. You can recognize Cor de Ree’s elongated furniture from a distance. Thrones, Tables, Benches, Chandeliers, Towers, etc. One object has a touch of Art Nouvea, Charles Rennie Mackingtosh or Neo-Gothic, the other something Moorish, Oriental. But they always have two things in common: It is always a unique piece and it is always immediately recognizable as Cor de Ree’s work.
This bench is designed as an art object in the garden, which you can also sit on. But it also fits very nicely in high-quality interior design.
