About this vintage design furniture
Scandinavian Super-ellipse table in Rio rosewood. 4 people.
Top in Rio rosewood. Chrome-plated steel legs. Removable clip-on legs.
Model dated 1971.
Born on December 16, 1905, descendant of a famous 17th-century Dutch naval hero, Piet Hein was a scientist, inventor, poet, author and mathematician. He was the inventor of a new geometric shape, the "super-ellipse", a kind of oval constrained within a rectangle. In addition to furniture and decorative objects, this particularly harmonious mathematical form was used in a number of architectural and urban development projects, including a famous roundabout in Stockholm, where the super-ellipse will make traffic flow more smoothly!
