About this vintage design furniture

Spectacular temple on the card signed by Pedro Mozos, probably the most gallant Spanish artist of the 20th century, although his work is usually considered to belong to the Madrileña school. It represents a scene of the house, formed by three jinetes accompanied by their perros of the house, crossing a river. The technique used, painting at the temple, is responsible for the finishing of the work, practically mate. Signed on the lower right side. Mozos was born in a village in Palencia, but with only 4 years of age he moved to Madrid, where he began to paint in a self-taught way and was gradually introduced into the cultural environment of the capital. He interacted with artists like Ignacio Zuloaga, and at this moment Eugenio D'Ors labeled him a genius. During the civil war he consolidated his artistic career little by little. His work is located between tradition and innovation, it may not be at ease with academic naturalism nor apostate openly for vanguardism. Naturalness was precisely one of his favorite themes. In your compositions of landscapes you are much more interested in the general effects than in the detailed description of the detail, as occurs precisely in this work. The details are simplified in such a way that they prevent the work from being overly completed. Of the pin stands out the smooth technique, much appreciated by the characteristic of the pin open and detailed of academicism. Take inspiration from the robust anatomies of Miguel Angel in his nudes, with a sculptural and monumental concept. He also appeared in masters such as El Greco, Goya and Velázquez. She was passionate about Velázquez's “turn” in dealing with heads and hands, as well as the theatrical character of his compositions. De El Greco, the styling and abstraction of his figures. Pedro Mozos exemplifies with his work the mixture of classical spirit and expressionism which is so characteristic and personal of Goya's work, which also includes the treatment of light and the density of mancha. Don't stop aiming for classicalism, although some of your works highlight their proximity to the modernist or Mediterranean Catalan spirit, especially the 1940s. In 1958 he gave himself a break to spend a year in France, a time when he tried to study modern art, and from which he came to the conclusion that he should follow being faithful to so much. This is where the originality of your work resides. He always showed himself as an independent artist, faithful to his personal style and principles, although he did not follow the fashion of the moment. On occasions it was said that “Pedro Mozos painted it so well”. In this sense, he demonstrates his ability to represent the harshness of the classical tradition of Western art in the time of modernity and the avant-garde, but without being completely attuned to these innovations. In his words: “Art, like nature, is eternal and evolves very slowly". During my career I won numerous and prestigious prizes, such as the First Medalla de Pintura de la Exposición Nacional de Bellas Artes. He became the most gallant Castellano plastic artist. Exhibited, both individually and collectively, in the main halls and museums of the country and abroad. He participated on two occasions in the Venice Bienal, and on two occasions in the Hispanoamerican Bienal. Dimensions: 67 x 58 x 5 cm. / 48 x 57 cm. The mark and the crystal that protect the work are a gift. Reference : 297436
