Vintage Ladderax modular bookcase by Robert Heal for Staples of Cricklewood, London 1960

Ladderax modular bookcase and shelving by English designer Robert Heal, 1960s. Both elegant and functional, the modular shelving system was designed by Robert Heal in the mid-20th century for British furniture manufacturers Staples of Cricklewood, London. The sought-after design consists of three modular shelving bays that can be installed in different configurations. The installation includes 2 storage pedestals with sliding wood panels, 1 secretary pedestal / occasional desk, a storage pedestal with 2 sliding glass panels. 6 grey-painted wooden shelves, 3 wooden shelves and the glass shelves inside the pedestals. Each module can be positioned at any height, so you can reconfigure your layout and personalize it at will. Each pedestal is mounted on golden bars (see photos) which attach to the "ladders". This is an iconic and beautifully designed piece of mid-century British furniture, no longer produced. Good overall condition, with normal wear consistent with age and use. Note the only altered element is the bottom shelf of the secretary's worktop. Prior to shipping, all items are carefully cleaned and re-coated with teak oil to ensure that your item looks its best on delivery.
