About this vintage design furniture
One of the most popular Soviet 35mm cameras, so popular that it was included in the Guinness Book of Records. Smena – the most popular camera in the world.
The history of Smena dates back to the interwar period, when one of the oldest Soviet optics manufacturers - GOMZ (Russian: Gosudarstvennyi Optiko-Mekhanicheskii Zavod), introduced the first camera called Smena in 1939 (today called the Original model). It was a bellows design, modeled after the 1935 Kodak Bantam. Its production was discontinued in 1941, as all GOMZ production was converted to war needs. However, the brand was not abandoned and 12 years later, in 1953, the completely new Smena appeared on the Soviet market.
The presented camera is a Symbol model produced since 1971. The camera was also a success and by the end of production in 1991, over 4 million units of the Smena Symbol had been produced.
