About this vintage design furniture

Han van Meegeren (1889-1947) study drawing of chickens and other poultry. It is not signed, but according to JJ van Waning it is an original work and comes from the contents auction of September 5, 1950. On the back a certificate of authenticity from Jan J. Waning of Galerie-Kunsthandel in Rotterdam, July 9, 1996. It is framed behind glass with a light wood colored frame. Van Meegeren's forgeries were indistinguishable from the real thing. The artist deserves the title of master forger; it is very difficult to copy a painting, an oil painting, of all things, and sell it as a 17th century work. Van Meegeren used 17th-century canvas for his forgeries and mixed the paint with Bakelite. Thanks to this plastic, the paint dried as if it were hundreds of years old. Then the work went into the oven and he bent the cloths around a cylinder, creating craquelure. In good condition. Reference : 288451
