Gio Ponti designed the Supperleggera chair in 1957. This super light wooden chair Superleggera is the result of Ponti’s search for a modern, yet traditional made, light wieght chair in design and choice of materials. One Supperleggera is only 1700 grams. The Superleggera was a pioneering design in the 50s, and is a Design Icon in 2023! Gio PONTI

1891 - 1979

Gio Ponti (1891-1979) was an Italian designer, architect, writer and teacher, considered one of the most influential designers of 20th-century Italy. Born in Milan, he studied architecture at Milan Polytechnic University and began working as an architect in 1921.
