Vintage metal Cup floor lamp by Joe Colombo for Oluce, 1960

The Coupe series, designed by Joe Colombo, was originally conceived as a variation of the Spider family, daughter of the same designer, from which it retains the base and stem. The simple and ingenious mechanism that connects the head to the base allows the light beam to be directed in different directions, moving the shade up, down and to the side. In 1968, the Coupé won the International Design Award from the American Institute of Interior Designers in Chicago. The structure consists of a white metal base with a semicircular pedestal that allows the floor lamp to be placed against a wall. The chromed metal arch is adjustable in height and can turn 180° to illuminate the chosen area. The position is fixed with a handle on the back of the base. The lampshade is made of lacquered aluminum and has a hemispherical shape with a slit on the upper side that lets a light beam escape. The switch is directly accessible on the shade. In good condition, contains age and use. The lampshade and the base present impacts. Reference : 279554
