About this vintage design furniture

Josef Hoffmann designed the ‘Kubus’ fauteuil first in 1910 completed with a sofa. The sofa can be two seat or three seat. A classic example of Hoffmann’s strict geometrical lines and the quadratic theme in his work is the Kubus, which we offer you the sofa from. According to Wittmann this is the design philosophy of the Kubus: A cube of leather in which all surfaces – whether outside or inside – are covered with a cube-shaped pattern. The squares drawn in at the edges and curved in the middle immediately remind the viewer of cobblestones extended into three dimensions. The design is not just a gimmick, the eye-catching structure results quite logically and appropriately from the processing requirements of the leather. In contrast to the old English leather sofas, however, Hoffmann transfers the square structure of the individual sewn fields to the overall structure of the armchair, places large and small forms in a direct relationship without making it obsessively obsessive. This sofa is in white leather and in good condition consistent with age and use. Reference : 273893
