Vintage desk lamp No. 71 by Eileen Gray for Jumo, 1930

This #71 desk lamp was designed by Eileen Gray for Jumo, France in the 1930s. It features a chrome-plated brass tube, a corrugated aluminum base and a shade with a double-sided movable arm. The lamp is very solid and made of high quality materials. The shade can be moved to different positions for better lighting.The base has a heavy molding, which ensures a secure support. With the original electrical system and the original chrome bayonet lamp, this is an iconic lamp made of a unique blue color with a clean design. The lamp is in original and overall good condition, with some dents in the shade and base.Eileen Gray, born Kathleen Eileen Moray Smith on August 9, 1878 in Enniscorthy in southeastern Ireland (which was then part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland), and died on October 31, 1976 (at the former Broussais Hospital in the 14th arrondissement of Paris1) is an Irish designer and architect. She is best known for incorporating luxurious lacquered finishes on furniture of Art Deco aesthetics and then evolving to the tubular steel structure furniture of International Style in the 1920s.In the architectural field, she is famous for creating the Villa E-1027 with Jean Badovici, free interpretation of modernist architecture. After being largely neglected by the architectural community for many years, she experienced a resurgence in popularity at the end of her life. Today, she is part of the "Pantheon" of architects and designers who have left their mark on the discipline.
