About this vintage design furniture
Set of four Bauhaus tubular chairs model S43 designed by Mart Stam (1899-1966) for Thonet in 1931. Mart Stam is the designer of the first rear legless tubular chair (cantilever chair) in 1926. These chairs were designed in 1931 and made in the 1930s/1940s. Two chairs are marked with a metal Thonet label under the seat (see photos). The logo is open with the dash at the T. The condition is good with normal traces of wear and use. These tubular chairs have been checked, cleaned and repaired where necessary (a few screws were missing and have been replaced). Material: chromed metal and wood (plywood). Colour: black and silver. Dimensions: h x w x d = 79 x 39 x 53 cm and the seat height is 44 cm. Two chairs have a tube thickness of 22 mm, and the other two chairs have a tube thickness of 25 mm. Source: book Thonet, Lilo Schafer and catalogue Thonet.
