Unique piece. “Grissinato” turned wood box with decorated blue crystal, blue corrugated crystal lid, hand-decorated. “Pipe smoking man” decoration.
Designed by masters Gio Ponti and Pietro Chiesa for Fontana Arte, Milan Italy in 1930s.
Rare piece of art, extremely sophisticated room accent. Museum object.

Gio PONTI
1891 - 1979Gio Ponti (1891-1979) was an Italian designer, architect, writer and teacher, considered one of the most influential designers of 20th-century Italy. Born in Milan, he studied architecture at Milan Polytechnic University and began working as an architect in 1921.
