Gerhard Alexander Denis (Gerhard) Karlmark (Helsingborg, August 22, 1905 – May 21, 1976) was a versatile Swedish painter. Portal Art and culture portal icon. His paintings include still lifes, portraits, nudes, port motifs and landscapes in oil, watercolor and pastel techniques. In addition to painting, he was also involved in sculpture, drawing, illustration, writing and singing songs. He developed much of his style and themes during his many study trips to Southern Europe. During his career, he was most active in his home region of Skåne. Due to the associations his work evoked with that of Pablo Picasso, he was also called the Picasso of Skåne. His works can be seen in at the Malmö Art Museum and the Ystad Art Museum. Reference : 263901
