About this vintage design furniture

A very decorative 1950s or 1960s stem- or bottle vase made in Murano Italy. This type of vase is called a ‘Sommerso’ vase because of the technique used. The Italian word ‘Sommerso’ (meaning submerged) refers to the technique where two or three layers of coloured glass are put together without mixing the glass. The colours used in this vase are purple and blue. Because there are many factories in the Murano area that have made objects like this it’s very hard to tell who exactly the designer and manufacturer of this vase is. The vase is labeled but unfortunately the label is not readable anymore. Looking at the contours of the label my guess is that it once showed ‘MURANO – Made In Italy’. The vase is oval shaped and in a véry good condition, with only some small scratches at the bottom. No chips, no flee bites. H x W x D = 44 x 15 x 8 cm / 17.3 x 5.9 x 3.1 inch. Reference : 252623
