About this vintage design furniture
Beautiful large mid-century modern Murano sommerso glass ashtray/small bowl designed by Flavio Poli (Italy, 1960s). Made of thick dark blue, blue and clear Murano glass. Can be used as as an ashtray, small bowl or as a vide poche/catch-all. Original label still readable (can be removed very easily if needed). Width: 14.5 cm; depth: 13.5 cm; height: 6 cm. Excellent vintage condition.
''Sommerso'' is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s/60s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly caused by a clear layer.

Flavio POLI
Flavio Poli (1900-1984) was a renowned Italian designer, known for his work in glass. Born in Chioggia, near Venice, Poli studied at the Institute of Applied Arts in Venice, where he developed a passion for blown glass.
