About this vintage design furniture
Mid-century Murano sommerso diamond-shaped ashtray vide poche by Flavio Poli for Seguso (Murano, Italy, 1960s). Made of thick blue, orangeyellow and clear glass. It is extremely decorative. Can be used as a display piece on any table. Height: 6.5 cm; length: 13 cm; width: 13 cm. It is in perfect condition. "Sommerso" (Italian for ’’submerged’’) is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer.

Flavio Poli (1900-1984) was a renowned Italian designer, known for his work in glass. Born in Chioggia, near Venice, Poli studied at the Institute of Applied Arts in Venice, where he developed a passion for blown glass.
